The Gear

For any who might be interested, here is a very short list of some of the gear we use.

Recorder: Recording is done direct to disc via the Logic Pro digital audio workstation running on a Macintosh 6-core 3.5GHz MacPro computer (the “Trashcan”) which also connects to the UAD-2 Octo effect card via Thunderbolt for exceptional effects processing. AD/DA conversion is handled by Apogee Symphony Mark I 16x16 and AD16-X-Series converters. and the Apogee master clock "Big Ben" maintains system-wide lock between all digital components. The computer interface is an Apogee ultra low latency Symphony-64 PCIE System. This combination features exceptional fidelity, negligible tracking latency, and high track counts at up to 192Khz sampling rates, with Logic offering a full complement of built in effects, instruments, and sampling.

Control SurfaceIntegration with the DAW is handled through a Slate Raven MTi running on two large screen monitors (the Slate 27 inch and an Apple 30 inch display)

MicrophonesThe mic closet contains 45 units and is growing all the time. It represents a broad cross-section of microphone types, helping to insure that the right mic is used for the right sound at the right time.
